A couple of years ago we attended a NASCAR race in Phx. After the race the traffic is always bad so we just usually hang in the parking lot and BBQ.
While waiting for the dinner to ready, I noticed the pickup parked next to us had about 3 kids and 1 adult male arrive. We said hello and stuck up a conversation.
After awhile, he noticed my Marine Corps sticker and remarked that he had been in the Corps for 30 days one time. I started laughing and asked if he was in the Navy…yes he was…
He had been in the brig aboard a ship for 30 days and the Marines gave him the 'treatment' is what I figured.
Nobody else that overheard the conversation knew what I was laughing about….made it even better!
He said that he learned the true meaning of Marines! A good sport about it too.
