Sgt Grit.
I had this poem in my possession since 1954 I wonder if some of your readers might know who wrote it.

Poem reads:
Korea
Just below the D.M.Z.
On a hill side there's a spot
Where we are doomed to spend out time
In the land that God forgot.
Down with the snakes and buzzards
Down where a man gets blue
Right in the middle of nowhere
Ten thousand miles from you
We sweat we freese we shiver
It's more than a man can stand
Climbing hills and mountains
The tallest in the land.
We are the Marines of '54'
Counting our measley pay
Guarding people with millions
For two and a half a day
Living with our memories
Waiting to see our gals
Hoping that while we're away
They haven't married our pals.
Few people know we are alive
Few people give a dam
Although we're forgotten at home
We belong to Uncle Same.
Boy's I hope that draft don't get you
And for God sake don't enlist
When we all get to Heaven
St. Peter will surely yell
They're from Korea
They've done their hitch in hell!!!!!!!!
