My Angel
Kathleen C.
So I may really know an angel
A human, not one from our skies
How can I tell that he is real?
It’s possible. Here is why:
By day he works with his hands
He builds the places where we work and live
The dedication comes from his hard work
Of which he has much to give.
In life he is someone’s son
Loyal to his family, honest and true
And gives them all his love and respect
Always, whenever it’s due
Forever he is a friend
Someone to count on, always there
In him you will find a real friendship
Of which, these days, is rare
Always he will be my love
With his warmth, kindness and smile
Being around him brings such joy
For he makes my life worthwhile
But most importantly, he is a Marine
And wears his colors with pride
He will give it all that he has
So that victory is on our side
One day our world will be safe
For us all to live as we please
With no hatred, no war, no poverty
but with happiness across the seas
I am lucky to know such a man
He is my hero, my love, my friend
I can never thank him enough
For fighting this war to the end
So you see, there really are angels
But I keep mine close to my heart
Because despite the pride I feel for him
It is hard to be far apart
I will always admire his strength,
His courage, selflessness and spirit
I will always believe in his ability
Though I am not able to see or hear it
So many roles he plays in life
But one that stands out so bright
He is an angel, for me and for others
Who is ready to fight the fight
The prayers for him are many
And though it’s hard to see him leave
I can now say I know an angel
Whom I love, trust in and believe.
