The attached was sent to me on Facebook. I re-did it so it would look nice and I have it hanging in a frame. Don’t know who sent it, I’m sure something can be done with it. When I read it, it kinda struck a cord deep down.
I was in the Corps as a Reservist during the Viet Nam War. I was assigned to H&S Company, 4th MP Battalion, 4th Marine Division. I know there are no MP Battalions in the corps today, they’re Law Enforcement units.

Once you earn the EGA it’s in your blood. As we say “Once a Marine always a Marine.” The oath we sworn doesn’t have a expectation date. It’s blood in blood out. God Corps & Country. We stand as one for this country. USMC. Semper Fi
Glenn: Great words of wisdom. If the Reserve unit you are talking about was in Oakland, Pa I was also in the 4th MP Batt. from 1967 to 1973. Semper Fi !
That is on my calendar for birthday 93 next summer, along with scuba diving which I did as a member of a beach rescue unit in 1950-52. Too soon old and too late smart. Semper Fi.
Deeply moving and profound statement. I could not have said it any better.
Simper Fi from one Marine to another

I hate that as I read that, I noticed the misspelled word “psychological”. It’s a trait that benefitted me in the Corps, but is not much appreciated as a cilly villian. . .
Who cares what you think, it sent a message to all Marines not just you it is real life statement to so if you don’t like it as we say in Japan oh well:)
Outstanding. If possible would liie to see on face book & make a copy to frame.

Semper Fi Marines! Vietnam 68-68 1-5
Semper Fi! Thanks for sharing this. I’m sharing this with all the civilians in my life in an effort to try to help them understand why I am the way I am about the Marines. Boot camp in ’89. Six month stay because of shin splints, (eg: I didn’t know that there is a right way, and a wrong way, to run). So, dropped from training. 81 days in MRP. 2 week drop in training to repeat 1st phase. Successfully graduated 2nd time through. Served: ’89 – ’94 in the wing in A/C maintenance on CH-46’s. Biggest mistake I ever made in my entire life was getting out of the Corps.

With all respect… If you are going to copy this for others, you may want to make a few spelling changes: “rite of passage”, “innermost being”, and “psychological”. I believe those are correct…feel free to tell me if I am wrong. I am not a Marine, but my husband is a former Marine (he told me there are no ex-Marines). He was a field radio operator with a forward air control team in Vietnam in ’65-’66. So I enter this comment with the utmost respect for all Marines.
