I just got the Huey and Cobra tattoo in Nov of ’10. I designed it myself, and even had the artist subtly incorporate my M.O.S. into the design as the helicopter’s numbers: 6154. I was stationed at MCAS New River, NC from June ’99 to Sep ’03, and served with the HML/A-269 Gunrunners as an Airframes Mechanic on the Huey and Cobra. Sgt. SONGS OF AMERICANS IN THE VIETNAM WAR
Fan blades/helicopter blades rotating slowly above a troubled dreamer, Jim Morrison's voice singing “The End”…
Young soldiers, on their way to Vietnam in the summer of Woodstock, marching on board their plane at Ft. Dix singing “Fixing To Die”…
Another American family mourns
You Know Him Now
He’ll die before he’ll yield,
And never would he leave
A comrade on the field,
With family left to grieve.
He’ll volunteer to go
Where you would shake in fear.
The cost you’ll never know
In blood and sweat and tears.

National Geographic Special- Inside the Vietnam War….Hour 3
I am amazed to find that Nat'l Geo has allowed the full segments, 45
minutes each, to be publicly available on YouTube. Here are the links
for the three segments. (There's an ad for a new kind of insulated
jacket leading each episode for maybe 30 seconds.) So you can watch any
of these anytime, at least as long as they keep these available, which
probably depends on the sponsor. I don't think there's any way to record
the video off YouTube.
Koh Tang Beach Vets
Along with the last 41 names on the Viet Nam Wall, we are the Veterans, Families and Friends of the Mayaguez incident on May 15, 1975. It is our hope that this site will become a place where our fellow Golf, Echo, and H&S 2/9 Marines, Sailors, and Air Force Personnel as well as their friends, and families can find comfort and support to this oft-forgotten chapter of American history.
Troops First Foundation
Great story and foundation.
