This is my recon team in 1969 outside the ammo bunker in Phu Bai, waiting for a chopper to pick us up and haul our sorry tails into the Ashau Valley. That was probably the hairiest place I've been in my life, but incredibly beautiful. I'd love to see it now.

I thought some of your readers might enjoy this photo of 3rd Service Battalion, Camp Mcterous/Camp Butler Okinawa and the small ville "Kawasaki" just outside the main gate. I did two tours at this base 61/62 and came back a year later 63/64. First tour in 2nd Lt Supt Co and the second tour in Medium Supt Co.
4th Marine Division Monuments
Sgt. Grit,
I thought you would like to see the new 4th Marine Division Monument put up this week. It sits at the "Veterans Memorial" Eisenhower Park, East Meadow N.Y. The 1st Marine Division Association also has a beautiful monument there.
Red Patch Marines
Unfortunately, I had to relinquish my command prior to their "Call to Glory". Nonetheless, I feel very much a part of this fine group of men and their families and wish to share their past and present with you and your readers.

In the 11 years that I have been in our beloved Corps, I have never served with a better crew. These Devil Dogs went to CAX with only a notion of what a real machinegunner could do. While we were there, each of these marines performed admirably leaving behind their foolish notions and taking with them a found purpose. I could never imagine serving with a better group of men.
