A Proud Marine Mom

When my son joined the Corps, I asked favor of God,
To watch over my son and take care of his squad.
And on days when His watch is needed elsewhere,
For those times, my request was a special prayer.

There was something I'd heard that's unique to the Corps,
Something I'd never heard of before.
When I heard the story, it reassured my heart,
Because it's something that sets Marines apart. read more

USMC Poem – Lewis

USMC Poem
by Sgt Lewis 31 MEU 97~99

Our Live are lonely, and our days are dry.
So Far from home, but to proud to cry
With the mission in mind, and the strength inside,
We stride forth to keep our dream alive,
Never to bitch or to run a stray,
We look forward to each breathing day,
No Matter what it or how it comes,
We take it like gods under the fierce hot sun,
Keeping in mind when the battle is won
Your friends never forgotten, but your time has come
To say goodbye to the life in which live
Knowing the life of a Marine will never give,
Fighting forth each and every day,
Knowing our pride will guide our way
In good or Bad, Pain and Pride
A true Marine will Never DIE!!!! read more

Silent Sleep

SILENT SLEEP
by Lloyd Klar (dec.)
A tribute to the 341st Bomb Group

Her great roaring engines are long silent,
Her guns are pitted with rust.
Olive drab paint is flaking and faded,
Turrets are covered with dust.
She sits and waits for her crewmen,
Those young men from another day.
Fifty long years have passed and gone,
Since they all went away.
Where have all those young men gone,
Those boys she knew so well?
They took her there and brought her back,
What stories they can tell.
Some are buried in foreign lands,
War records tell the place.
“Killed In Action” the official words,
Or just “KIA” to save space.
Others went down in a fiery crash,
Just where, no one can tell;
Over Burma jungles or China cliffs–
No markers where they fell.
Others came home, the war was over,
We dissipated like the dew.
Then separately we all went our ways,
Back to lives we knew.
But in every airman’s inner thoughts,
Quiet moments as day ends,
We hear again those engines roar
And voices of our friends.
Now we’re aging and almost grey;
Again friends are starting to fall.
They’re going now into that long last sleep
That comes one day to us all.
So here’s to our fellow comrades,
Those still here, or passed away,
We’ll remember you as you once were
In a distant place and day.
As we stand here now in silence,
We’ll think of you and smile.
Get ready for that final briefing;
We’ll join you in a while. read more

Marine Sniper – Marine Corps Poem

Marine Sniper
By: Bradley Karr Holland

I am a Marine Sniper
Alone and fearless I fight
I sit still not making a move
As I wait in the pale moonlight
I wait for some helpless soul
To walk into my sight
I slowly squeeze the trigger
As a shot rings out through the night
A red mist fills the air
I can smell the blood from here
As I put away my gear
I take one last look in my scope
His head was blown completely off
He did not shed a tear
And when it troubles me in my sleep
I try to get my conscience clear
I will see their faces for the rest of my life
But this is the burden I choose to bear read more

Veterans Day Assembly

Veterans day poems read by:
Tiffany Incorvaia

On November 10th,2005 my daughter’s school has a ceremony honoring all the Veterans . and as we all know It was also the Marine’s birthday . Well my daughter being 11 and wanting to show her support > She only got to read her poem ,and in the middle of it she broke down and cried . The teacher had to finish it for her. after that she of course came to me she needed a hug. I got her calmed down she went back to her seat. I looked around and there was not a dry eye in the place. She made such a impact on other children, the Veterans , and guests that I had people telling me so. They said that it was nice to know that a 11 year old child could make a impact . The American Legion is getting her reading in full today . I am proud of her So If I may share her reading with you to pass onto All Marines that read your letter. I think some might like it.

A Soldier’s Heart

Hi my name is Dustin Rogers. I have signed up for the Marine Corps and my MOS is Infantry. I leave for boot camp June 9, 2008 about a week after I graduate. Well anyways I have a lot of people ask me why I am doing this or that im crazy or that I have no reason to do this and etc…. Well I didn’t know what to tell them because I knew that they would understand and they just don’t get it. So I wrote a poem about the whole thing. It’s called “A Soldier’s Heart.” read more

Untitled Poem – Smiley

Untitled Poem
by Jim Smiley

Hey Sgt. Grit,
I am sending you this poem in hopes that it will be passed on to others that do not understand why we are Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen. I was in the Corps in the early 80's stationed at MCAGCC 29 Palms. I never was in any conflict but still I will defend my fellow military troops that have been there. I think that maybe the poem says it all. read more

For A Special Marine

For A Special Marine
by a proud Marine Mom

Though we’ll be miles and miles apart
Always know that you are in my Heart
Every single day you’ll be in my prayers
I will think of you always and everywhere
There are only a few of the strong, proud and brave
Who will fight for our freedom the American way
Your mission is grand, and of you I am so proud
Being a Marine earns you the respect of all those around
There will be many tough times, this I know
But of who you are don’t ever let go
You’ve pulled yourself up and turned your life around
Your entire family is so very, very proud
I Love you so much and want for you only the best
So keep your standards high and never settle for less
I love your Smile, your heart and your charm
May God keep you always safe from harm
So I’ll tie a yellow ribbon around the tree
And wait for the day you come safely home to me. read more
