Service Ribbon Ski Helmet

I served one tour in Vietnam, first with the 81 mm mortar platoon, H&S Co., 2/3/3. When the 3rd Division left, I was transferred to the 60 mm mortar squad, Lima Co., 3/5/1. I?ve always been proud to say that I?m a Marine and a Vietnam veteran. The attached pictures are of my ski helmet, covered with small service ribbon decals, earned while in the Corps. read more

Reunion

Sgt Grit,

I really enjoy the newsletter, especially the pictures, so I decided to send my own. I joined the Corps in 1979 and after boot camp went to NAS Memphis for Avionics school. There I met two guys from back home, New Hampshire for me, Massachusetts for them, but home just the same. We spent the better part of 1980 in Memphis and then received orders to different bases. I went to MCAS Beaufort, SC., Jay went to MCAS Cherry Point, NC., and Mark went home to NAS South Weymouth, MA. read more

Poolees, Marines, and Recruiters Sgt Ward, Sgt Wesley, and SSgt Dailer Poolees and Recruiters

Kristy,
That last shipment you sent was absolutely awesome. We were not at all expecting to get all those shirts. The parents loved the shirts and mugs. Thank you so much. Attached are some photos from where we went and saw the silent drill platoon. From left to right (in all but one) are the recruiters; myself, Sgt Wesley SSgt Dailey. Not pictured is our boss, SSgt Griffin. This is 99% of our Delayed Entry Program (DEP). We had a blast. We gave some of the shirts to them for excelling in certain categories. If there is anything you would like us to do, please let me know. Keep that MOTIVATING Sgt Grit gear coming. read more
