I went to the ground-breaking ceremony at Quantico, VA, for the Marine Corps Heritage Center on September 26, 2003. Thought I would sport my Sgt. Grit black wind jacket. As you can see it looks real good beside the Commandant.
Was asked that day, and since by a few Marines where I got the jacket. My answer, “Sgt. Grit,” of course.

Hey, with the winds this week down here I was able to get a good shot of the flag pole I was telling you about. My father is standing next to it for “perspective.” He was active in Quantico & Cherry Point between 1958-62. I was in Twenty-nine Palms and Okinawa between 1983-87.

Sgt. Grit,
When my twin grandboys were born, I submitted a picture of them as new borns wearing Marine Corps t-shirts (Rug Grunt) and you published them on your site as my Marines of 2026. Well, they’re now 3 years old and I continue to buy them updated Marine Corps t-shirts for each size they grow into. I’ve now taken it one step further and have them running with me at the park where I run 4 1/2 miles 3 days a week. Although I couldn’t get them to follow cadence, it’s a start!

Sgt. Grit,
I sent out this message and pictures to all my friends. Since the outfits and accessories come from your shop, I thought you'd like to see a couple of future Marines.

I may be "Old Corps" but I'm the happy Che (Navajo for "grandfather") of 4 month twin grandboys, whose father, Mike, and their Mom, my daughter Stephanie, have promised me that they can consider joining the U.S. Marine Corps when they get out of college. In return for that consideration, I'm even agreeable to help pay their way through college, just so I can have Marine grandboys! Anyway, here are some early pictures of my 2026 Marines.

Sgt. Grit,
