Devil pups
Are you aware that there are two types of devil pups? Those that are military brats that have graduated from Lejeune High School, home of the devil pups. And then theres the children of Marines, so being both I was wondering if you were aware of the two. We take pride in our school name as well as of our status as a devil pup. We are few and far between but we are still here.

Future Marine
Dear Sgt. Grit, I am 17 years old and and finishing up high school so I can enlist in the Marine Corps. It's all I have ever wanted to do since I was a kid. I have earned the nicknames "Boot" and "Recruit" from some people who say I will be an outstanding Marine someday. One of my good buddies is a Veteran Marine, he has been the biggest influence in my life and is the reason why I want to enlist. He was an 0311 in the 3rd Marine Division and He served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I plan to serve my Country with Honor, Courage, and Commitment in the future, and the Corps. I want to thank all service members from all branches who have served in the past and who are serving now. "Blessed be the Lord my strength, Which teacheth my hands to War, And my fingers to fight." Psalms 144:1

I am currently enrolled in the Marine Militery Academy in Harlingen, Texas, and plan on becoming a future Marine. Today, November 3, 2012, we are celebrating the Marine Corps' "conception" with MMA's 47th Annual Birthday Ball and Cake Cutting Ceremony. OOH-RAH and SEMPER FIDELIS

Devil Dog
Have you heard the complaints by the younger Marines about being called Devil Dog? I guess the situation is usually that: Marine (A) has done something wrong, Marine (B) witnesses that error. Marine (B), in an effort to address Marine (A) and correct the problem will say, "Hey, Devil Dog!" ; then, of course, address whatever the error is. So, because Marine (A) doesn't like being corrected or maybe just doesn't like being caught, they have an attitude about being called "Devil Dog". Marines, just remember you are a Marine and act like a Marine. Then when you are called Devil Dog, there cannot be a negative connotation associated with it.
