My son graduated from Parris Island January 22, 2010. I am so very proud of my son. Here are some pictures of My Marine…PFC Childress, Christopher, B.
His grandmother and Great grandmother are also in one of the picutres.

Grit my draughter just granuated her first platoon after granuating D.I school and they took honor platoon with all the trophys (5) I'm sending you a picture of her D.I. she works with from left to right is my daughter (nick names) serrannamo,stepdy step step,boss lady and c mack, she also spend two tours in fallujah kicking down doors with her brothers with the 1st MEF. She loves her corp like I loved mine semper fi.

Let me start by saying that enjoy reading your Newsletters and forward them to my Marine buddies that I am still in contact with.
The other day was my Mother's 73rd birthday. When I went to take her and my wife out to dinner, Mom had a surprise for me. My orginal platoon picture and the Graduation program from the Graduation ceremony. I was very glad that she had saved them, I had lost my platoon picture over the years, but was able to order a copy from MCRD San Diego. Enclosed are a couple of pictures that I still have. The old picture is of my Grandfather, Ed Carroll, in 1942. The older Platoon picture is of my uncle's platoon, Blanton Kiser, in 1952. Keep on doing the Newsletter, it is good stuff.
Well, it has been many years since I became a Marine. I just thought that one of my four children would become a Marine, but only one has joined the service—the Air Force. Upon graduating as a Honor Graduate, another airman asked him how he did it. His answer floored me, but made me proud too. He said, “Do you think I could be anything but number one being raised by a Woman Marine”. He went on to graduate from Tech school as an Honor Graduate too.

Attached is a photo taken by my wife on July 10, 2009. It shows my son, Francis, saluting me on the same parade deck on which I graduated in May ’69. I am justifiably proud, as you might guess. I am, however, even MORE proud of the fact Francis had to lose 65 pounds to even be able to enlist, AND he lost an additional 40 pounds in boot camp. His platoon mates told me he was an inspiration to others who had to lose weight. He constantly motivated them to lose weight. OOOO-RAH!!
Here is a photo of the sign I made for my son when he graduated from MCRD. His graduation date is on the bottom corner. The other sign was made by his 8 year old sister who is extremely proud of her brother!! (As we all are!!)

I found your website when I was looking for Christmas gifts last November for my son. He has wanted to be a Marine since he was twelve years old. In November 2008 he signed up and was in the Poolee program the rest of his Senior year. Although he wasn’t a Marine yet, we purchased a few items from your site and tried to become enthusiastic about his decision (which I’m very proud to say we are very happy for his decision). It is a very scary thing for a Mom to let her son grow up and go out on his own but when you add joining the Marine Corps to the mix it adds a new dimension to the feeling. Nonetheless, I have since enjoyed your newsletter, loved the items you sell and found great comfort from the stories I read in the newsletter. I have since discovered what Honor, Courage and Commitment truly means and now understand the pride felt by all Marines, new and old. I have learned to embrace my son’s decision and to be very proud of his decision. I wear a badge with my son’s picture and tell everyone I meet about how proud I am to be a Mother of a US Marine.
Love reading the various stories you share with us. I came across this picture that was taken 4 years ago at my sons graduation from Parris Island. It was and will always be one of the most memorial events in our lives. Not only because of what my son accomplished but the fact that my father (Cpl Kenneth Oltman) could be there for that impressive day. We weren't sure that my mother and father would be able to attend because he hadn't been well but all the plans worked out for them to come. While standing in the bleachers listening to the men and women singing the Marine Corp Hymn I looked over at my father who had tears in his eyes singing along. He was so proud of his grandson, you could just see him beaming. My father since passed two years ago from cancer but when ever I hear :"From the Halls of Montezuma, to the Shores of Tripoli…" I remember that day and how proud my father was of being a Marine. It brings tears to my eyes and makes me beam with pride. He was and will always be our inspiration.

I'm sorry I missed your photo contest, I don't know how I missed it. Anyway I'm sending you a picture the day my son graduated from Parris Island, Dec 19th, 2009. That is the proudest day of my life. He has gone on and completed MCT and MTC. He just reported to Camp Lejeune, 2nd Tank Battalion. God bless all those that serve our great nation!!
Attached is a picture of my Dad's boot camp picture.Maybe there are some salty Marines out there that were in this same platoon. My Dad died a week after I completed my boot training in 1963,platoon 366 at MCRD. Semper Fi Marines,past and present,keep up the good work.
