My SgtMaj

I wish I had a picture to send you. The last SgtMaj that I had before I got out in 2009, is SgtMaj William "Wild Bill" Skiles, a Bronze Star recipient for his actions in Iraq, and also famous for all he has done working with the snipers and shooting teams on MCB Quantico. I will always remember his little blue Honda Civic sitting in front of the Bn H.Q. with Virginia tags that read "WARHAMMER"! It was hilarious to me that such a tough name could be put on such a small car, but I guess I must not be as tough as I thought, because I would have never let him know that I thought it to be funny! read more

Newsletter input

Sgt Grit,

I enjoy reading the newsletter and get my motto gear at Grunt.com.  I think I’ve finally trained my family (I have 10 brothers/sisters) on what I want for Christmas each year.  “GRIT CERTIFICATES”!   $50 here, $50 there, they start to add up!  I have one item that I hope you or your readers can help with.  I have a license plate frame that I bought in 2005 at P.I.    I cannot find a replacement.  I want Sgt Grit to carry it.  You can read the wording on the bottom of my plate.  Most frames cover up the wording on the bottom of the plate.  This could help out other Marines who for example have “Purple Heart”, “Bronze Star” or “Iraqi Freedom” on their license plates.   You know if we put it on our license plate we are proud to be associated with a particular group or proud to have earned the right to wear a certain medal.   read more
