Today we are proud of the hard work performed by my post as well as by myself in seeing this special project come true.
On November 10th 2015 ( date pending ) we are going to see the following Marine Barracks plaque become permanently affixed to the former MB bldg # 2.

I was with "B" co. 3rd. at. bn. 4th marines in hawaii from 1960-62. maintenance cpl. third row from front, 4th on left. I remember the tank park pictures posted under the ONTOS category.
He came again last night. He came creeping into his thought's. He hasn't came as often as he used to but he still makes his presents known. In the middle of the night for no apparent reason he is there. The thief steals his sleep but leaves memories. Memories so vivid that it seems like yesterday not 46 years ago. Memories of a youth in a far away land. Of friends some living and some gone far to soon. It's funny that the names of some of the living escape him. But not the dead. Never the dead.

General Dynamics NASSCO, on Saturday christened the U.S. Navy's newest ship, the USNS Lewis B. Puller (MLP-3 AFSB). The ship is named in honor of the late U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant General Lewis "Chesty" Puller, the most decorated Marine and the only one to be awarded five Navy Crosses.

On Saturday February 21st at 0830, the annual parade in Sacaton, Arizona to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Flag Raising on Iwo Jima, will begin with a flyover of a B-17G Bomber (Sentimental Journey) accompanied by Marine Corps V-22 Ospey & Marine Corps AH-1Z Super Cobra (not yet confirmed).
Merry Christmas Sgt and Thank You for everything you do for the Corps. The 1st picture was taken at this years Marine Corps Ball in Boca Raton, Florida, it is of my wife and I. The 2nd picture is of a Gunny, a Navy Chief Corpsman, and a beautiful woman.
Daniel Flynn indicated that the term "Battle" Jacket was utilized by Marines, and soldiers wore "Ike" Jackets.
I obtained my Marine "Ike" jacket sometime in late 1953 and being somewhere near 80, I do not remember exactly how I came to own it. The only name on the inside of the upper right sleeve is mine. I have photos where I am wearing it as a PFC; Cpl; and Sergeant (E-4) Since the jacket has the stripes of a Sergeant (E-4), I must have stopped wearing it by the time I was promoted to Sergeant E-5) in March of 1961. I remember how proud I was to earn Sergeant (E-5) and if that jacket could still be worn, it would have had Sergeant (E-5) stripes sewn on.

My fiance and I visited the warehouse on November 6th. For many years Robert has wanted to visit and to meet Sgt. Grit in person. We loved the shop, his collection, Sgt Grit himself, and the staff made us feel right at home. Thanks for doing all that you do and for being there for your fellow Marines.
