Sgt Grit is a place where Marines can come and meet other Marines, share tattoos and stories, keep up with Marine Corps news, or shop for USMC gear.

Christmas Dinner menu for 1959 at Kami Seya, Japan (near Yokohama).
Trivia question: When did the military stop giving out cigars and cigarettes at holiday dinners?
Hi,
I have been getting your e-mails and magazines for my husband. He and our son were both in the Marine Corps. Bill, in the late 60's and Eric in the late 00's. I order things from you, like his hats, T-shirts and Christmas gifts. Well, I wanted to let you know what the last T-shirt was for.
Last Christmas, our Marine brother was home to celebrate Christmas with the family. This year, he is with us spirtually. When a loved one passes away they are not gone, their presence is with us forever. To all the Marine families out there whose loved one has fallen, stay strong! Semper Fi!

I made this wall of honor in our home to honor all those who have served in all branches, my fiance 20 yr retired Marine, my son who served in the Army for 4 yrs active, 2 tours in Iraq and now National Guard. My 19 yr old cousin KIA Iraq in 2003, a childhood friend KIA Army Spec Forces, South America 1983, my son's friend from Ft. Hood killed in an accident after they returned from Iraq. It's a way for me and those who come to my home to always remember the sacrifice the men and women make to serve our country.
I am looking for some help identifying which HMM squadron was assigned to MAG 36 at MCAS Futema in 1978 and 1979. I am unable to confirm which squadron was operating there based on the squadrons web sites. I have a feeling that the squadrons may have rotated during that period of time. I was one the Senior SAR Corpsman assigned to the 1st MAW from June of '78 to November '79. I would appreciate any assistance on this information or a source that I can go to and confirm the information that I need. Thanks.
Gunny monster's little Marine in training. I think you can agree he has the look down.
