Sgt Grit,
A few Marines participated in the homecoming parade at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. My partner and I decided it was time to represent Marine Corps veterans by participating in the parade. We created our banners by utilizing a design from one of your T-shirts. Needless to say the parade went off quite swimingly. We had 100% positive feedback from the spectators, minus a few fraternity members. HaHa.

The Sgt Grit staff had the pleasure of hosting the promotion ceremony of SSgt Codi Tanksley. He is with the Officer Selection team out of Norman Oklahoma. His special guests included GySgt Raul Vasquez, who was his recruiter, and his grandmother Barbara Lopez. He is a long time faithful customer of Sgt Grit and we were certainly honored when he asked if he could have his pinning on of SSgt here for our entire company to witness.
Karen Voigt hosted the 6th Annul Injured Marine Golf Benefit of Newport Beach. Sgt. Grit made his presence and appreciation know by sending a large box of Marine shirt, stickers and service pins. American Legion Master of Ceremony took great pride and appreciation in auctioning off items to add to the total of funds donated to our Marines. A few, though very few, did know about Sgt. Grit. They do now. 1st Sgt Russell (Dusty Diamond) Weisse makes this report with great pride in his fellow Marines. ALL'S CLEAR!
I just got the new Crater Lake plate that Oregon has issued. Got it personalized the same way as the old one.

I served in the USMC from 1966 to 1970. In Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 with the 1st MAW at Phu Bai. At 55 I still haven't found anything I can be more proud of than my USMC service.

Thought you might like to see a Marine family's tags… MSTNG is mine. TRY2XCL is my wife's and the other two are 'worn' by my two adult daughters. (I take that as a compliment…their ideas).

My son is currently serving. He will become a sergeant on 12/1/03. Just got back from the post office, sent him my 31 year old sergeant chevrons.
