I can’t believe I made it through my years in the Corps without getting a tattoo, so here I am 8 years later with my first one (of many since I’m hooked now). Thanks to Vanessa at Holy Oak tattoo in Holyoke, MA for the awesome job she did. A special thanks to all the Marines out there serving our country, wherever they may be. Be safe and Semper Fi. S. Awesome Marine Tattoo
My wonderful wife of 40 years paid tribute to me with this very original tattoo when I retired. Master Tattooist/Ricky Bailey/G.A.S. Tattoo’s Longview Texas used old pics so decorations are behind the times, but I am still in awe and forever honored and thankful. They day I left bootcamp I got the first one, and once I got back home I got the bulldog. My wife came to visit me and she got the Semper Fi on her lower back, I recently added to my sleeve, it has a Grim Reaper and Angel on it, says “Pray for peace” on my right arm and “Prepare for war” on my left, also has 0311 at the bottom in smoke.
30 Years Later
30 Years Later
I am an avid reader of my Sgt. Grit e-mail publication and have often viewed the tattoo section. Well here I am on the right with my brother on the left 30 years later with new tats. His very first and my fourth. We were both “newbie’s” together at Camp Schwab “Kilo” 3/9, 0351’s in 1975. We then ended up, both of us as Troop Handlers at Infantry Training School Camp San Onofre. Him with Delta Co. and I with Alpha Company. We were then discharged, honorably of course, in 1979. He is presently serving with a civilian consultant in communications with an Army unit in Mosul Iraq. While visiting me here in my home in Phx. Az he casually mentioned that he has been wanting an EGA tat and I said, let’s go. As you well know, the picture says it all! To Sgt. Grit and the many service men and women here and abroad, GOD BLESS, MERRY CHRISTMAS, MELE KELEKIMAKA, HAPPY KWANZA, HAPPY HANUKKAH, FLEIZ NAVIDAD and Happy Holidays! If I have left any out, my apologies. SEMPER FIDELIS! Tony Serrano and John G. William AKA 5-0/Skeeter
Memorial Tattoo
SGT GRIT, I always come on your page looking at everyone’s tattoo’s. I have been wanting a memorial tattoo to honor the friends of mine I lost in Afghanistan. I served there in 2005. My deployment was cut short because I was hit by a IED. It took me about six months to get back on my feet but im finally up and walking again. The tattoo is the American flag in the background that wraps all the way around my arm, and it has a statue with the eagle globe and anchor up top. On the plaque it says ” O.E.F. ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL”. It was done by Stephen at Alien Art Tattoo in Jacksonville, North Carolina (910-353-2520) Cpl Epperson
