He is the son of Amy McGough and US Army Captain Joseph McGough. His father is US Army Retired CW5 Eddie McSweeney. He has two brothers and one sister. One brother Sgt Danzig McGough is with the 101st Airborne Division who recently returned from Afghanistan as well.

While stationed at MCAS El Toro with VMFAT-101, an F4-Phantom II squadron in 1969-70, I found myself with way too much time on my hands. I was on the midnight shift most of the time so after a quick 40 winks I had the rest of the day and half the night to get in trouble.

24 MAU in Beirut
I was hoping to catch up with some of my fellow Marine's that I spent a part of my life with that I'll never forget! Fom a working port in Hifia, to the train ride to Tel Aviv, then Jerusalem. Then of course the no duty store for the ride back with Johnny Walker. We did have fun, but it never took the true pain away! Making Grape hooch down in the well deck of the USS Nassau (Being a Marine I never thought I'd say she was a GOOD ship). Never did we forget the REAL reason we were there! God bless our Hero's that gave all! And are still giving!
