Our lil “Marine”

Dear everyone at Sgt. Grit,

Normally I wouldn't send such personal pictures out like this, but I thought ya'll might get a kick out of our 1 yr old, Matthew. He wasn't feeling too good last night, and my husband was in the middle of making his famous "chili dogs and fries" for dinner when he realized our youngest was trying to make himself comfortable by the stove. As you can see in the pictures, he is dragging is Devil Dogs throw that we bought 2 yrs ago from the Sgt. Grit magazine. That's HIS blanket and it goes EVERYWHERE with him! (YES, everywhere….even my suburban and his daddy's truck). Anyway, thought we would share these pics with you of a determined lil man and his Devil Dogs "blanky". read more

Lil Will

Hello Sgt Grit,

I am a proud Marine Brat and mother of a "Future Grunt". My son (William Price- aka "lil Will") is the son of Gunnery Sgt. William Price and grandson of Col. John Gautreaux (ret). My son was born on November 10th 2006- & could not have made his dad and granddad prouder to have him born on the Marine Corp birthday! He will share this day with pride with the men & women of the Marine Corp. This is a recent pictures of "lil Will" wearing his Sgt. grit "future Grunt" attire, cheering on the silent drill platoon as they performed at the Sea & Sky Spectacular in Jacksonville, Fl. read more

New Grandson

This is a photo I took of our first grandson (sent with permission). He was born October 9 to SSgt and Mrs Jeremy Messerschmidt. I think his daddy shows a whole new meaning to "the proud" He was 8.5 years of trying and two trips to Iraq before he arrived. I am so proud of my son and his wife, and of our new grandson. What these families give up and the amazing strength they show is a blessing to all of us. The wives and the families stand behind these brave men and support them 100%. read more

New Future Grunt / Best Use of Sgt Grit Gear

Sgt Grit:

I'm a Former Marine Sergeant who served from 1980-1986. I went to Parris Island in September of 1980 as a member of Platoon 2087. First stationed at Camp Lejeune as a Field Artilleryman in Alpha 1/10 and later HQ 1/10. From there, I ended up on Embassy Duty where I served as a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassies in both Reykjavik, Iceland and La Paz, Bolivia. Even though that era is considered "peacetime," I lost a lot of good friends in both Beirut and Grenada. read more
