Marine Mom Tattoos
In response to the wife who wants a tattoo and her husband doesn’t want her to get it….Wait. He may change his mind. If he doesn’t don’t get the tat. Not because you weren’t a Marine, but because he is your husband… As for earning the EGA… I am a Marine Mom! I earned every bit of my tattoo but as for respecting that I have not “officially” served, I explained my EGA this way – The tattoo is a simple EGA with USMC across it. Over it it says “For my son” under, it says ” who chooses to serve”. I can not tell you how many Marines have complimented me on this. It has drawn a lot of comments and NEVER once has a Marine told me I didn’t earn this. They usually thank me for my support and are surprised that this mom would do something like that for their child. Since my back has the story of my family on it and I cannot see it, I also have a piece of my back story around my left ankle. I have a Cross, two hearts with mine and my husbands initials in them, an EGA for my son and a little angel for my daughter. These I can see but most do not pay attention to them. The EGA there is hardly ever noticed but I know it is there. It is on the back of my ankle and although it is very visible, many do not even know what it is. What my husband loves – is that both EGA’s are on my back side – indicating what we know already – My Marine has my back!!! Hopefully this helps. Marine Corps Wife Pride
This is written in response the to the American Courage #148 newsletter. I read the various responses both for and against a wife getting an EGA tattoo. I am married to a Marine and I feel that I sacrifice just as much as he does. We’ve been married for less than 2 years, we’re on our 2nd deployment and are looking at a third before our 3rd anniversary. I don’t feel like I’ve earned the EGA though. My husband busted his @$$ over the course of 13 weeks to earn the right to wear the emblem, I did not (even though we’ve been together since before he went to boot). However, I wanted to show my pride in being a married to one of the few and the proud. I custom made my own tattoo. Semper Fidelis with roses, a symbol of the strength and beauty of Marine Corps wives. Here is a picture of my tat: I will always be faithful to my husband, my children and my country. I am here backing up my husband at home so he can do the job he proudly signed up for. He’s a grunt and I couldn’t be prouder of him. Do what you think is right, but I agree with most of the people who said that you have to “earn” the right to wear the EGA. It’s more than just 13 weeks of bootcamp, 1 mo of SOI, 7 mos of combat duty in Iraq. It’s blood, sweat, tears, being in a fire fight and watching your brother die beside you. It’s fighting for your life. We go through our hardships at home, but nothing will ever compare to what our Marines go through. Respectfully, Amy Baker, proud wife of Cpl. James Baker Jr.

Proud USMC Wife Tattoo
I got this tattoo to honor my husband, Sgt. Nunez, while he was in Iraq. I love old skool pin-ups so I decided to give my pin-up girl a modified dress blues outfit to give her that “Semper Fi” look. She covers my left thigh and will be finished up with a Marine Corps inspired collage in the background at a later date.
Proud USMC Wife Tattoo
I got this tattoo on May 16th, 2007 since it was two years to that day me and my Marine were together. It represnts the love and pride towards my husband and the Corps! The ega obviously represents the Marine Corps since it’s a BIG part of our. The guardian angel wings to watch over us. Our wedding date is going down the cross and the cross is a budded cross. The three buds stand for love, internity, and happiness. And of coarse the Semper Fidelis since I’ll always be faithful to my Marine, Ooh-rah!
