Some Gave All Tattoo
In recent sgt grit emails there have been mention to different tattoos Marines have gotten and the reasoning behind them. I just wanted to share my husband’s tattoo and why he chose this design. We were traveling down south last summer and we were outside Camp Lejeune visiting a cousin. My husband ran across the place where he received his first Marine Corps tatto after his bootcamp and training. He had talked about getting another tattoo since he returned from his deployment, so this seemed the time and the place. He chose a design to remember the 48 Marines that were killed from his battalion during their deployment. And it was actually designed by a fellow Marine. It was an awesome design and my husband proudly wears this tattoo on his back. Hope you enjoy! Sarah Ickes
Marine Corps Tattoo
I personally think the new ban on our hard charging devil dogs getting ink done is STUPID!!! so we can go to foreign countries and lay our lives on the line but we can’t get tattoos on our body!!!! The Commandant says we don’t want to tarnish our polished looks….come on now we are MARINES….we get down and do the dirty stuff nobody else want to do, that is what we are known for. Not for being neat and clean and polished. Let our MARINES get their ink done so that they can continue to keep their morale and show their pride to all. Ohhhhhh Rahhhhhhh and SEMPER FI!!! Tattoo and Why
One day I was thinking about getting another tattoo. Trying to find soemthing to describe who I am; a thought came over me. I wanted to show my pride about being a Marine Devil Pup. I went to my local tattoo artist ( the shop’s owner is a former Marine). I told him I wanted a design made around the globe and anchor. He told me to come back in a few days and he will show me his design. A few days later I was back at the shop. The moment I saw the design, my eyes filled with tears. It was so awesome. After two hours of work, I must say he did a splendid job. I went to the American Legion that night to show my dad ( he is commander of the Legion). He was so proud and gave me a big hug. Now I can’t go to the Legion with out showing all the vets. I am so proud of my father and my stepfather. They have served the Corps proudly. It was the least I could do to show I was proud to be a Devil Pup… forever. Tabatha Platte Proud Marine Brat and Proud Marine Fiancee to Pvt. Alward

Attached is my son’s tattoo that he got when he graduated from Boot camp on Dec 9th 2005, he received this from a Parlor in San Diego. His duty station is 29 Palms, California but he is now stationed in Iraq with the 2/7 Fox Company 3rd Platoon. He has since then gotten two more tattoos. Proud Mother of a US Marine! Lorry
