Sgt Grit,
I served in the Marines from 1952 to 1960. Korean duty from '53-'55…over 16 months. Never got a tattoo … always wanted one…R&R in Japan and many liberties , and still no tattoos. My youngest daughter,Taylor, asked why not? My answer was "waiting for a special occasion" After a week at Parris Island with the Marine Corps League in May of 2005, and an article in your newsletter …TATTOOS Volume II…EGA Tattoo – FINALLY…Thomas Carter, the time had come.
My daughter said she would give me a USMC Tattoo for my birthday, and i agreed. Grady Spades at Full Color Coverage in Annapolis , Maryland, did an excellent job tattooing an EGA on my arm at my shoulder … on my 70th birthday August 17th , 2005 FINALLY , after 53 years…
Never too late…Once a Marine, always a Marine.
