A Lesson in War

Not one to romanticize war I simply write my impressions and conclusions, like this poem: A Lesson of War

No one wins in war.
Aside from the stories, legend and lore
The only gain
From war
Is an unremovable stain:
Death.
After war, some who fought
May boast that they served in battle.
I don’t think I ever will.
The lesson I learned in war is
That it is not who you fight
But who you kill.

  1. War is war, and freedom is not free, it is bought with young men’s blood. There are no “winners”, only survivors with memories…………..

  2. There are many times that the only reason we survive the war is that it is not our time to go. Viet Nam 65/66………..Only by the Grace of God that some of us came home.
