Didn't the 1st Mar Div leave from San Diego to go to Korea? And then most of the Division would return to San Francisco for discharge or re-deployment. That is how my father got to Korea and back. I only went to San Diego once and that was by air. What got me was flying through the mountains and then past the Recruit Depot, with all of it's hills… and then down to the airport. And I mean down to the airport. It actually slanted down hill from the plane as it was landing. Kind of a different experience for a flat landed Floridian. We don't have those kinds of airports down there…

50 + year reunion
Tom Lucas & John Marinko hooked up at Myrtle Beach, S.C. in Sept. 2013 after searching the "Together We Served" website for military, and veterans.
Tom was in platoon 329, and John was in platoon 328 at Parris Island in 1963, and later both were stationed at the Parris Island Field Music School. Tom was a drummer, and John was a bugler. After school, both were stationed at Camp Lejeune Force Troops. They made many trips together back to Johns home in Sumter, S.C., and Tom and John remember one time Tom didn't have any clean civies, and John's mom washed his clothes for him.

Little Guy In Desert Diggies
Bradley is a big 7 month old! He is our first baby, we've been married for 6 years. My husband, Nick, spent 4 years active duty in the USMC based out of 29 Palms. We now live in WA state near to family and Nick now has a career in law enforcement. Bradley and I are home together and enjoy every moment!
Marine Blue Benz
I always planned to get another Mercedes SL convertible and this 2004 fell in my lap at a great price. Since it is Marine Corps Blue I decided to dress it up with Sgt Grit parts.
1st – A Marine badge in front grill.
2nd – The AMG logos on the side were removed and replaced with
USMC logos.
3rd – On the trunk is a Semper Fi Plate holder holding my Vietnam
Veteran plate, Marine Combat Veteran sticker, Silver Star
sticker, and Marine Corps screws to hold the plate.

I was stationed at Camp McTercus from March 1970 to March 1974. I worked for Special Services at Tin Can just below Camp Courtney. The NCOIC of Special Services was Top Walker. Walker liked to volunteer me for special assignments ranging from civilian payroll clerk, brig detail, NCOIC of the warehouse, etc., besides my regular job of Col. Wilson L. Cooks' driver.
1500 Days In Captivity
On 14 September I was asked to speak at a local VFW event where 6 former POW's were brought to their Post in Fair Oaks, CA, to be honored. They were from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and ranged in age from 64 to 89 years of age, and all were just as spry as they could be! Two of the 6 also happened to have been MARINES.
Second Generation
This is me, my wife, my brother, and my son Ron Montgomery III (second generation MARINE). He was in Platoon 2074 that graduated on 9-20-13. Here we are standing on those Oh, SO FAMOUS yellow footprints at Parris Island… Thanks for any info you can provide.
