My wife made this in honor of my unit last Halloween. I am Motor T, but they require us all to wear the patches at my unit. This is still pretty cool.

Sgt Grit is a place where Marines can come and meet other Marines, share tattoos and stories, keep up with Marine Corps news, or shop for USMC gear.

Sgt. Grit,
My seabag from over 61 years ago with 1st ANGLICO logo with comical Indian character.
The painting was by Marvin Kohn, MGM artist, and Debbie Reynolds classmate.

I served in 2/6 during the 80’s. While I didn’t make the Corps my career I never lost the pride of having served with the world’s finest. When I recently refurbished my old goalie mask there was no doubt that it would have a Marine Corps theme. I hope you like it.
Dear Sgt Grit,
My name is Harry J. Daigle. I joined the Marine Corps in 1953 at the age of 17. Feb 28 1954, was when I graduated from MCRD. I stayed in the Corps 8 years, 8 days, and 8 hours. I got out as Cpl. E-4 like you did. I would have enlisted for another 6 years if they have given Sgt. E-5 I left the corps Dec 8, 1961, and after 58 years I still love the corps. As you see by the monument in my front yard, next to my American flag and the Marine Corps flag I bought from you. I just want to share my monument with all other Marines, celebrating the Fourth of July.
Tom Wilson asked about 5231 This is what I found. Maybe he has transposed digits or even some incorrect ones Occupational Fields (OccFlds) are identified in the first two digits and represent a grouping of related MOSs. Job codes are identified in the last two digits and represent a specific job within that OccFld. An MOS can be awarded as a Primary MOS (PMOS), an Additional MOS (AMOS), a Skill Designator, or
Category II MOS (which denote special skills assignments or simply to account for structure when required).
Nat is a WWII Marine, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan. (Old Corps, Hard Corps, the real deal) He is also something of an artist. We have a basketball team in little 'ol OKC that is having some success. They are currently playing the LA Lakers. Nat is from LA. See the art work he included on the outside of the envelope that included the other two pictures below.
This is Marine Joe Bryans new place overlooking the Missouri river in Jefferson City MO, just several blocks from the state capitol. Joe had a local steel shop make the fence and the shop owner wanted to make an EGA. Joe has built a clubhouse w/ an antique bar for all Marines, including an extra bedroom for those brothers in need. We've collected the old copper plumbing from the remodel to scrap and plan on buying some sign age from your catalog when we start decorating. I'll send more pictures of the project.
Here's a bit about we Ammo Techs. Pretty much sums it all up.

Grit,
I save everything, including all the t-shirts from every National Veterans Wheelchair Games since 1997. I wasn't sure what to do with them and when the LA Veterans Quilt Project came to my VA last year I asked Karen Van Den Brink if she could possibly make a quilt from my old shirts. She said absolutely and handed the project over to Linda Leibon who did and 'AMAZING' job!!! She had it for over a year and just presented it to me Tuesday 3/20/12. Something I will treasure forever and money can definitively not buy. I cannot thank the ladies enough!
