Marine Corps League NW Suburban Detachment 80 participated in the Memorial Day Parade in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The colorguard marches ahead of a replica built APC which carried WWII, Korea and Vietnam veterans.

This is a picture of PFC Dalton Welsh (24th Marines), United States Marine Corps, presenting the U.S. Flag at his grandfather’s (Lonnie Welsh) funeral to his great grandfather (Homer Welsh), a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. PFC Welsh’s grandfather, a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2011.
I have been reading the letters from other Marines that have attached WWII dog tags. Just thought that I would send my dad's. I carry his along with mine on my key chain. He wore these in WWII and Korea. I lost my dad back in 2003, and know that there are fewer and fewer of the WWII Marines around, but I would like to hear from anyone that may have known my Dad. My Dad, Don L. Hampton, was from Sweetwater, Texas.
Mike Shaw's story about serving under Sgt. Maj. Linehan when he was a Gunny, got me to thinking there may be more who read this newsletter, that served with or under the Sgt. Maj. Mike is correct. There is a Marine Corps League detachment in Lewiston Idaho named after the Sgt. Maj.
In reading this current newsletter you can understand my shock as to whom LCDR Dave Dennihy MC honored in the 5K.
The first photo attached, on a Tribute bike built for him and my son, is Tyler O. Griffin, who lost his life in front of my son. Effectively saving my son's life.
