Monroe Marine reaches out to Afghani families

In the desert heat of the Sangin District in Afghanistan, two Marines walk to a house, or rather a compound. The prisoners inside this building are their targets.

Inside, Lance Corporal Chandra Francisco takes out her most effective weapon in accomplishing her objectives.

With the device, she starts blowing bubbles, much to the excited delight of the children in the room.

Chandra Francisco and other Marines in the Female Engagement Team (FET) are charged with the task of reaching out to the women and youth of Afghanistan, who often are fettered by the social and economic restraints of the region; and giving them a voice in their nation that they otherwise might never have.
