My Marine Son’s New Tattoo

Dear Sir – Attached are a few pictures of my son’s new tattoo. When he finished with boot camp in 2005, he came home and got a tattoo of a dragon that covers his right upper-arm. He said that he probably would not get another tattoo. However, with the new rule that went into affect recently, as well as the arrival of his 21st birthday, obviously he changed his mind. So, just before the new rule went into effect, he went out and got this tattoo. I’m not a huge fan of having a lot of tattoos. However, my son has worked very hard to be the fine Corporal in the Marine Corps that he is today. He is also a wonderful son. The tattoos don’t change any of that. If he enjoys his body art, which he does, then that’s what matters the most. Also, they will be a reminder of home that he can carry with him when he goes on his 2nd deployment to Iraq later this year. Sorry this letter is so long but I would also like to thank your readers. I have actually been considering getting a tattoo on my calf. I had never even considered a “Marine Mom” design, but it sure makes sense. The pictures these moms shared gave me some great ideas. If “once a Marine always a Marine” is true, then I will always be a “Marine Mom” no matter where my son’s life takes him.
