In Honored Memory
Tags below original first tattoo… in Honor of My brother in law, my mentor and my father. A cold war vet, and Vietnam Vet, and a WWII vet respectively… they all guided me to being the man that I am today and I miss them all.
Hey Sgt Grit do you have this?
I had a great friend my last tour in Nam, now retired and lives in Oregon, Sgt Thom Maher. He found me on Facebook after 40 years and sent me this patch. We spent night and day together for many months and we both have health complications from "Agent Orange". We are a couple lucky ones that didn't get cancer from it. I have never seen this patch anywhere.
Honoring My Dad – MGySgt Vernon Tsoodle, 13MAY1931-13OCT2011
It is our Native American tradition to officially mourn for a year after the death of a family member, which means excluding ourselves from traditional ceremonies and festivities, and then we usually have a church service and dinner to mark the end of our mourning period. However, I wanted to do something different to honor my Dad, MGySgt Vernon Tsoodle, a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran and most of all, a proud Marine. Unfortunately, he died of complications from Alzheimer's on 13 OCT 2011.
Long time vet
On my first tour, severed with a Sgt Owens, he had 4 or 5 Purple Hearts and had been in country at least 4 years. Kept on extending six months at a time and got 30 days free vacation any where in the free world. Many in our crew did that at least one time.

The Game Changes
Sgt Grit:
Earlier this month my son's Engineering Battalion left for Afghanistan and brother, I gotta tell you, it was real hard letting him go. The day we found out what their actual deployment date was, there was a different kind of reality that hit me that cannot be explained.
