Semper Fi Brother, Mamadou “Mike” Balde

Last Tuesday, 29-year old Mamadou “Mike” Balde was on the platform of Chicago’s Jackson Station when four cowards confronted him and started an argument. Rather than get involved, Mike turned to walk away when they began to violently assault him. One of the men intentionally pushed Mike between two of the train cars as it was departing the station. Mike was dragged on the platform and struggled to free himself but was eventually killed when the train entered the tunnel. His final moments were unimaginable. The suspect who pushed Mike has since been arrested and charged with his murder.

Mike immigrated from the Republic of Guinea with his father and siblings when he was 9 years old. He joined the Marine Corps when he turned 18 and served two combat tours in Afghanistan. Mike officially became a U.S. citizen while he was serving on his 2nd deployment in Afghanistan

  1. First off condolences to the family of Mamadou”Mike” Balde. He did not deserve this. The cowards who did this to our brother will surely pay one way or another. Unfortunately the casualties of wars go unseen and daily life post-war is another war our veterans deal with every day. I feel bad . So sorry for your loss. May justice be served. God bless Mamadou” Mike ” Balde. SEMPER FIDELIS.

  2. Kapena said it all for me.
A second suspect was arrested recently on an outstanding warrant. Chicago Sun-Times said two of them pushed him between the cars.

  3. You will be in the hearts and minds of every Marine who reads your story, you are my brother forever. Semper Fi

  4. Brother mike, you will not be forgotten. As jarheads, we must never forget, to hell with prison for such scum. Put them as targets on the rifle range

  5. May justice take his killer(s) and helo them to the middle of Afganistan and let them experience what the Marine who they killed did. And pass the word to the locals that there’s a reward for their heads

  6. To The Memory of Marine Mamadou “Mike” Balde, Semper Fi.
You will always live in the in the minds and hearts of your loved ones and comrade Marines.
I maybe a 74 years old man who served in the Corps, which means I am still a Marine, and always will be. I wish I could have a few minutes along with those coward punks, I’d give them a lesson they’d never forget.

    Again, Semper Fi Mike.

  7. I am a former Marine sergeant and I worked at the Chicago Transit Authority in train service. I started out driving them and eventually got a job off the trains. It’s all political and the guys in charge are political hacks and don’t care about the employees or the passengers. I have seen what happens to someone who is run over by a train and it’s awful. Mike must have been pushed from behind, otherwise he might have been able to push back and hold his ground. 4 against one Marine. Nice odds for scum bag cowards. Many times, on the trains I had to protect passengers from the criminal elements on the trains. When the geniuses at the CTA took the conductors off the trains the passengers were left to their own devices on 7 of the 8 cars, but the bosses didn’t give a damn as they were safe in their offices or their homes. There is a lot of crime on the CTA that goes unreported and one of our brothers lost his life to the types of petty crooks who have nothing better to do than harm other people, most who are defenseless. I’d say Mike would have given them a fight if he was forced to or knew they were coming at him from behind. May God protect his soul and honor his service to our great nation. Illinois needs to bring back the death penalty for premeditated murder. We need to give to the criminals what they gave to Mike. Rest in peace my fellow Marine and my deepest sympathy goes to Al Baldie, his dad and the rest of the family. Semper Fi to Mike for his service to his country.
