Sergeant

I was in Vietnam from 4/66 to 4/67. I was D-2-12 attached to 1/9, The Walking Dead.
We knew then that politicians were screwing up the war with all this crap about don’t shoot here,
you can’t go there etc. Basically not letting us do what we were trained to do. The politicians
lost that war, not us.
Now the politicians are tellin the cops to stand down, don’t arrest, don’t engage, don’t make the rioters angry. The cops can’t do what they were trained to do. So now entire cities are being lost.
And the cops are getting blamed for being cops. God help this country.

  1. Your so right! Politicians get richer and AMERICANS get poorer! Race creed and color are the weapons they use to ruin our country! People need to see through the politicians and what they are doing to our great country! I will always back the men and woman in blue! Also our military! From one brother to another GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  2. Amen!!!! Brother.

We saw it in Nam, now we’re seeing it at home. Our country is in deep kimchi. The only thing I see to do is place our belief in the Constitution which we swore to defend, in God and remember that we are United States Marines.

  3. So right you are brother…
Instead of letting the do their work – protect & serve – and receiving clear and sound orders, as it should be, they are confronted with a command line guided by politics …
    Oorah

  4. Couldn’t agree more. Politicians were bad during the war but even worse now. I have a theory that many of the politicians and police chiefs of today are people that have zero military exerience. People that grew up between Vietnam and the middle east wars who have absolutly zero understanding of the Constitution or what it takes to safe guard our freedoms. As a Sgt during Vietnam I learned real leadership skills that I eventually used as a police chief. Thankfully, I am retired now because I could never be one of the liberal chiefs of today. They took an oath to defend it to get their jobs but have no understanding of the real commitment. Semper Fi.

Wow, you are right on about everything you said. It’s very frustrating for all of us that served and lost our buddies in Nam and other wars to see what’s happening in our crazy world now.
Glad to see all of the comments to date are Marines that feel the same way and we are united.
    God Bless America!

Once a Marine, always a Marine

  8. Well said. Politicsons doing best to destroy Military and Police. The Police and Military are the only groups to stop this horrible rioting and anarchy which the politicians call peaceful protests and must be protected from those who would stop this behavior.

  9. Old time Marine and 43 years in Law Enforcement – WE take care of business, in spite of Politicians.

  10. You are so very correct, Seattle has turned into a cesspool of crime, and the police are told to not engage, the courts will dismiss the cases, the jails will free them. the criminal justice system, is going down the drain.

  11. Brother, I appreciate the conversation you started and agree 100% with the follow-up comments. Served 4 years in the Corps and 48 years Virginia State Police. Was always respected throughout my career but see the actions of evil doer’s of today it’s heart breaking. Thanks to you and our brother’s in uniform, be it green or blue, we’ve tried to make a difference. We know how it ends! God Bless America, the Corps, and you my Brothers.

  12. This group would have been against the protests of the 60’s which helped the writer of this post. Or is it any protest. I’m not here to start an argument. Semper Fi

  13. I served 77 to 82, never saw combat, but even in peace time some things were screwed up. I don’t like what’s taking place in our country and pray everyday for God’s protection. I’m still an “Oath Keeper”! Semper Fi

  14. Welcome Home my brother. You are absolutely right. I to served In Vietnam USMC 68-69. Started in 67 to 73. I spent most of my life with the Dept. Of Correction Maximum Security retired now , and I to respect those officers in Blue who are their to protect us and our families. I would help them out anytime and anyplace if needed. Politicians are not doing their job and should be protecting our boys in blue not letting these damn riots go on and destroying our cities. To all those wearing the uniform and protecting us I say Thank You. And for those Politicians No Thanks for doing Nothing.

  15. True what you are saying! Served 9/66 thru 10/67 with Golf 2/7 Marines. Came out and went into Law Enforcement. I support the Blue and the Veterans.

  16. And I salute YOU Mike! Semper Fi.
Can’t help my self: Anybody notice Mike’s spot on salute compared to the one on his port side? LOL. Way to go Mike.

  17. Now, just as now, Politically Correct will get a lot of people killed and maimed and scarred for life. Combat Camera in I Corps, Aug 66 to Oct 67. God bless our military and police forces.
    Semper Fi brothers.

  18. How long before the mobs take over. God help us all because the politicians do not have the balls.

  19. Leave it to a politician to screw things up. They haven’t learned a darn thing since Vietnam . If only people would listen to the people that have made comments here, we’d be a lot better off. Mike, you nailed it! Thanks for your service! Semper Fi Marine!

  20. We all took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. I don’t think I am alone in classifying the rabble out there rioting and destroying property as the latter. And to top it off, we have milquetoast politicians that want to put a lip lock on the rectum of these lawless anarchists and grovel to these mobs by defunding the police departments, some in the area where I live. These same politicians also want to take away our guns.

If I have anything to say about it, come hell or high water, the mob will NOT take over. If law enforcement is defunded, I WILL be armed. I may be old and a cripple, but I will not be a victim without a fight.

Thomas Jefferson once said that “the tree of liberty will occasionally need to be refreshed by the blood of patriots and tyrants.” I can’t say that is the exact wording but it is the gist of it.

If that is what is needed, I will be ready.

  21. I agree 100% with what you have said. I remember a “no lock or load” directive when I was in Nam with Lima 3/7 & Kilo 3/5 in ’70 as an 0331. Fortunately those in charge used common sense & allowed all of us to lock & load about a block outside of the firebase. We now need our civilian leaders to start using some common sense. That would be refreshing.

  22. MIKE RIGHT ON THE MARK. SURE GLAD TO SEE ALL THE POSTS IN FAVOR VERY STRONGLY TOO.
HOW ABOUT WE START OUR OWN RIOT AND KILL SOME OF THOSE SCUM BAG POLITICANS. I SURE KNOW THE ONES I WANT TO TARGET.
TO ERROR IS HUMAN AND TO FORGIVE DEVINE. NOT MARINES POLICY.
THEY HURT YOURS HURT THEM TWICE AS HARD BACK.
SURE CAN’T WAIT FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITH LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING. THE LOST GENERATION.
I KNOW I HAVE TWO ADULT GIRLS BOTH TEACHERS. LIVING IN LA, LA LAND. AGAIN WELL SAID MIKE. HAVE A BEER ON ME.

  23. Thanks for your Newsletter and giving Marines an outlet for their stories.

These all help to maintain our brotherhood, our community.

  24. Amen, Mike!
    Well said!
