Stolen Valor

Most of you have probably read or, have seen the latest story of stolen valor It is one of the most pathetic and perverted story I have seen in quite a while. If you have not I will sum it up for you. A former Marine and Iraq war vet is facing up to 21 years in prison for using the story of another vet who lost both legs in a humvee explosion and, later took his on life. In short he claimed to have a TBI and not only received va benefits but was also given a home from some charity. How does this happen ? What other perks did he receive in the past? He was outed by another Marine that did witness the incident. He has to have forged records ,not just an embellished story. This story is bothering me more, and really has me ticked because, we have been writing the past few days and trying to help a Brother that is not only fighting cancer but fighting the va to get one stupid rule changed and this no good s o b collects disability and gets health care and a new freakn’ house from fake injury!!! The system is more than just broken it is FUBAR!! It just boggles my mind and I am angry today and that is not good since I have failed all of my anger management classes !!! That’s just a joke to lighten the mood a little. I am still foxtrotn’ mad!!

  1. I need to make a correction to my post.I know it is not correct to refer to a former Marine as EX- Marine but,in this case it fits. This guy is an EX Marine and deserves prison time, and I hope dishonorable discharge.so much for Semper -Fi Still Angry!! Harry

  2. Unfortunately there are Marines that have no integrity. When I joined I thought all Marines were a cut above the rest. Naïve? I guess but I totally trusted what the Corps preached about who they were. However through the years I have seen with my own eyes and read enough stories about Marines killing each other, robbing each other, Our leadership allowing Marines to drink poisoned water for decades & knowing about it. Marines cheating with other Marines wives or just on their own wives. Marines that are pedophiles & rapists. Sometimes the pride I once had in being a Marine & was taught to me in boot camp gets very dim. My opinion DI’s should be allowed to drop recruits easier. A dirty little secret is DI’s have to allow many recruits to graduate that they know should not. In fact why not allow recruits to drop on request like all elite units and OCS does? Raise the standards to graduate. Way to many s-birds have infiltrated for way to long & allowed to claim the title. Also it needs to be clear that the “Once a Marine Always a Marine” title that the Commandant made clear belongs to anyone that passed boot camp or OCS DOES NOT belong to anyone that tarnishes the Corps reputation. 1. You make some very good points Dan . This story just seemed to get to me more than some of the others I have read or heard. Harry

  3. This has been going on for years.Case in point is the Marine Corps League and the detachment # 80 based here in Illinois. An aux member was allowed and still is to wear the insignia, blood stripe while claiming to be Marine veteran. The powers that be at national did not want a story like this to leak out Yet again those in leadership positions within the same detachment attempted to attack me.Finally after a year and the threat of having their charter suspended…..they came forward. /gs. Sgt. Grit needs to share this BS as well. Cut the crap !

    1. Case (s) in point; 1) A few years back, a gentleman joined the Marine Corps League in Conn. He had all the rite documents, and eventually was elected to the position of State Commandant in the state of Conn. After doing research, it was found that said man was in fact Not A Marine, in fact this man had gone to Canada to escape the draft. He had never served in any branch of service of The United States. 2) Closer to home, I live in New Hampshire, about ten years past, I met a Marine ?? at one of our Marine Corps League state meetings. Supposedly this gentleman claimed to have been A Marine Pilot, shot down and lost both legs. He always showed up wearing League Uniform with all the salad dressing to go with it. Upon further review, this gentleman had never been in The Marines and was not a Marine Pilot. Both his legs were lost in a traffic accident in Boston Mass. So I guess these posers are everywhere. One of the ways to tell, (a one time), if you have a Frogmore Campaign ribbon, (good conduct), Navel orders are in order to wear said ribbon, it takes Four years in service to wear it.

  4. I was in uniform for 8yrs I have pdsd they say from what was asked of me I have not asked for anything from the V.A. or others and this person take a falling brother I.D. too get things that he should not, what part of the corps was he in? He needs to put somewhere so he can see what true warriors are

  5. I understand your anger better than anyone because I am one of your brothers fighting cancer and the VA. When I was told on my birthday in July that I wouldn’t see Christmas I was devastated. The treatments were worse than the disease, so I told my doctors that I was stopping. I wanted to live out what little time I had with dignity. This is my third Christmas since then. The only thing keeping me going is prayer, the love of my family, and the tenacity that I learned in our beloved Corps. I used to be pissed off, too, but when your time is limited, getting angry over things takes away from time you have to be happy with your loved ones. If you want to honor the Corps, continue to lead a good life and set an example for all to see. Those that display the actions listed in the previous posts will be judged eventually, but for now, continue to educate the public on men like John Basilone. Just my two cents, sorry if I sound like I am preaching. Semper Fi!

    1. I hop that your doing better brother. Keep on fighting like the Corps taught us to. Good luck. And even though I don’t know you I will be praying for you. SEMPER FI.

  6. Frank, you my brother are a man of honor. Nothing more needs to be said, except, I’m very sorry for what you are going through. Semper Fi Marine, God bless. ChuLai ’65

  7. I will keep this simple, as much as this turns my stomach. This shit bird is NOT A MARINE and should be drummed out of the Corps with a D.D. Ex Marine is to good for him. He is lower than whale shit and that’s at the bottom of the ocean, where he belongs. I am speaking for all 3 generations of Marines in my family.

  8. THEY SHOULD DO TO HIM WHAT THE VC DID TO VILLAGE LEADER WHO COPERATED WITH THE US MILTARY. THEY WOULD CUT HIS NUTS OFF AND PEEWEE AND SOW THEM IN HIS MOUTH WHILE TIED TO A POST IN THE VILLAGE CENTER AS WARNING TO OTHERS. THAT MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT SURE WOULD PREVENT ME FROM TRYING TO PULL A STUNT LIKE THAT. TO MANY BLEEDING HEARTS HERE TO ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN SEMPER FI. MAYBE THE MARINE GENERAL WHO TRUMP PICKED FOR HIS CABINET WILL PERFORM THE CERAMONY. LOVE HIS NICK NAME ” MAD DOG”

  9. Stolen Valor is really rampant here lately. Google “stolen valor” and you literally find hundreds of videos of people confronting phony veterans and or current servicemen and women. Some of them are so stupid you almost feel a bit sorry for them, but 90% of them piss me off to no end. I have personally encountered three fakes over the past five years. One fake SEAL and two fake Marines. The fake SEAL I work with currently and I am 99% sure he is fake but I am not completely sure, but the two fake Marines I was able to uncover by asking them no more than 3 questions. I just can’t understand how these assholes continue to get away with it, but it pisses me off immensely to say the least. You watch these videos and no one is asking them questions like their platoon number in boot camp, or their DIs names, or their MOS. Theses fuckers should rot in hell with the brokedick assholes who burn our flag! Semper Fi brothers and sisters. CPL Mike Kunkel

  10. Back in the late 60’s was aboard a ship and in a head – Acey Ducey game. Caught the a$$hole dealing from the bottom of the deck. I wanted to kick the guys teeth out but did a better part of valor and just left the game, but not before expressing what I saw to the rest. Turned out better for me in the long run. Was field promoted a week or two later to E-4 which probably would have not happened otherwise. There is an old saying that goes ‘you can trust a Marine with your life, just not with your money or your wife.’ I know of a situation where in VN the Sgt (Staff or Gunny) in charge of the mess hall at 3/7 got caught doctoring the books about what we were being served and pocketing the difference. The food was absolutely horrible. Don’t recall what happened to him. They even had to put guards on the ‘C’ rats stores because people didn’t want to eat at the mess hall. They are everywhere whether thieves or stolen valor. Expose them but don’t take it personally. Taking it personally doesn’t help but only hurts you!

  11. An old Vietnam buddy and I were touring civil war battlefields in VA, MD & PA. We were in a restaurant when a guy wearing a cover with The Emblem walked by. He stopped and said he was in Lima, 3/1 in ’67 & ’68. Bill and I perked up because we were in H&S 3/1 during that period. One of us said to this “marine” so you were there on 27 Dec 67? (3/1 had 48 kia’s, 17 in Lima including the CO & XO; Not a day anyone in 3/1 doesn’t remember) He said: “All those days just blend together”……Bill said: “So you weren’t there!” He turned and left. Still not sure if he was ever in the Corps but I’m positive he wasn’t in Lima, 3/1 on 27 Dec 67.

  12. Put the maggot faced scum bag in jail. What a piece of flippin s___t . There are so many people out there that really need it. What a disgrace!!!
