  1. Great pic, Douglas, don’t we all wish we were still that skinny. In addition to being Brother Marines, we also must be Brothers by other Mothers. I was with 2/26 in ’66-’67 and with 2/9 in ’75-76. I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t remember being “asked” about going to Vietnam. (LMAO) I really don’t think I could handle another reenlistment, even though the spirit indeed is willing, but (at this age) the flesh is far too weak. Welcome Home, Brother! Semper Fi!!

    1. Can I get an, Amen? I was with 1/9 and then 3/3 in 1965 and 1966. We completed our mission with pride and honor like I brothers and sisters today.

    2. Been listening to a lot of the “GOLD STAR” families on the “tube” and they have a whole different take on the way this war ended. I feel for the families. I hear what everyone is saying, but this can not be easy for them. I am not minimizing the deaths in Afghanistan, but 68- May the U.S. lost over 2,400, the deadliest month in Vietnam….. Harry 1371

  2. This old Army Vet would re-up too if the need arises. I have 3 sons who are Marines. They are not active duty now and I’m glad because the current leadership is not military friendly. Thank you and much respect to those serving now and those that served in the past. Bruce Greenwood SGT U.S. Army

  3. Like Nam, Afghanistan was lost by politicians, NOT by those in the storm.

    1. Truth! Another imbecilic move by our Blunderer-in-Chief who has been on the wrong side of most policy decisions of his entire political career. One disaster after another! In any event our brothers have made the ultimate sacrifice and there is no greater honor. Semper Fidelis!

  4. We know how you feel as the same was done to us. Hard to win with one arm tied behind your back. We are with you and praying for you.

  5. Amen to re-enlisting by Vietnam Vets. Those flag draped coffins bring to the forefront the desire. Semper Fi!

  6. Sgt. Tom Vaughn, 72-78, I’m ready to go , Semper Fi to my brothers n sisters, my oath to protect and defend has never stopped, not for enemy’s foreign not for these domestic ones either.

  7. I too am ready to go back into harms way. Both for my Brothers & Sisters, as well, all of America and the Free world! I may be a BK gimp but by god I’m still Qualified to … .

  8. No surprise, we Brothers are all on the same page on our feelings of seeing what’s going on in our world today. Some things never change, “Troops win battles, Presidents lose wars”.
Prayers be with all of the families of the fallen, let them never be forgotten.

  10. When I saw the “Mongolian Cluster” happening in Kabul, it reminded of me of Saigon 1975. I was drafted for the war in 72 and ended up in the Med for the Arab-Israeli War of 1974. It never fails to amaze me of the “failure of leadership” at the top and some of the decisions that go with it. Even at my age, I am fit enough to go back and help if needed. My heart goes out for all the people lost in those explosions and the ones we will never see again. Semper Fidelis Brothers & Sisters
