The Good Ole Days

The Good Ole Days

After two years in Dong Ha, I can't get the place out of my mind. Crazy or not, I would do it over again in a heart beat. Even though the place almost cost me my life. It was one hell of an adrenaline rush. I remember being recruited to do some of those truck runs. I was crazy enough to do them. I was a 3516. We must not forget the BIG bucks we made for being over there. If I remember correctly, we got an extra $65.00 a month.

It was 68 Tet around June 23 I stood 200 yards away from that Mushroom cloud looking at the air frames coming at me and yes my entire life flashed before me in perhaps 3 seconds. Those kinds of memory are pertinently burnt into that memory Chip….I’m Bobby Tirado i was in the 3rd Marines FLSU Bravo Commo on perimeter on the old Railroad tracks……..So bad on names i hope my friends who were trapped with me in that small hole in the ground are still alive and very well God Bless you all……
